Last week the booster club sold camo shirts to support the troops and classes could make posters to hang on the fence around the field. Of course, I bought all of us shirts and my class made a poster!!
We were all in attendance, to honor my brother and remember Travis. Camo "gear" on, we were set for the game. Just before leaving for the game a student of mine sent me a text from his mothers phone saying, "Mrs. Perkins, could you please let me know whe you are 5 minutes from the game? I would like to meet you at the gate?" I replied "Yes, I will. See you there..." I had no idea why he would want to meet me at the gate. I assumed he wanted to know where I hung our class sign?! On the way the game I let him know I was on my way and I was beyond blessed when I arrived at the gate...
This makes being a teacher worth every gray hair!! I love feeling like I have at least touched one child in a special way! But knowing that I have touched many children in the last 9 weeks has been a true blessing!
I love my job and I love my "TROOPS" in training....
