No really!
Stan Britton may possibly be our next hero. Who knew the man that set up our alarm system in our house, would be neighbors to my best friend, go to our church, and now....he's doing our premarital counseling and he is the leader of our community group! He gets double gold stars from us! And he is doing it all with a new baby at home, along with two other children (a 15 month old, and a 6 year old)!
Jay and I decided long ago that we wanted to be more active in our church, and that we would not walk the aisle of weded bliss until there was a spiritual foundations or anchors, thanks Stan!
This is our year to do it all. We are growing our spiritual relationship together, within ourselves, and through the journey of marriage. We are fully investing our hearts, souls, and minds to the glory of God and letting him work in our hearts the way only he can. This has been something we have both wanted to do for so long and now it is finally time to committ. We are excited to see what God does for us as we walk with Him through counseling and we are more than thrilled that Stan is the man.
Although Jay and I already do "life" together, and have expierenced way more "life" together than most couples our age, especially for the amount of time we have been together, we still want the Christ driven foundation not only for ourselves, for each other, and for Jacob. We want to have a foundation so deep in Christ that only those that know Christ will understand our love. We want to be an example to our children and our friends and our families. Children learn marriage through the example of their parents and we are all the parents that Jacob has, we must lead by example. We have both have strong examples of marriage; Jay's parents are still happily married and so are mine.
Last night was our first "counseling" session. It was casual as we only spoke of our story. Our story is unique and definitely one of the books. Stan knew a little of our story, but he didn't know all the detail. It's great to be able to share our story and the uniqueness of it and be able to laugh about it now, even though it was not through the best of circumstances that we met. Walking away from the first night, I felt overwhelmed at the amount of love that truely rest between our two hearts. Amazed at this man that I will call my husband. Ready to humble myself before God and open my heart to the amazing things He can do with our marriage. How great is our God?!
Another adventure we are starting is community group. We have officially joined and become memebers of a community group. Our church does not have morning Bible study before the sermon. Instead their motto is: CONNECTING PEOPLE TO GOD AND ONE ANOTHER. So every Sunday evening we now meet for 2 hours with a group of young married couples and we fellowship together. We are more than excited about this new adventure. We are excited to walk with other believers through fellowship. Excited to meet couples that live in our same community that share the same common values. Exicted to make new friends. And who better to lead us down this new path, Stan the man!
God has great things in store for our family. Great things working in our hearts, minds, souls. Great friends in the making. As I drove to work this morning, I couldn't help but think of all of this and become overwhlemed by all of this........my heart is full this morning.
