First Date with My Husband.

Our first date, as husband and wife.

Saturday, February 18, 2012.

Jay and I have always taken great pride in the fact that we have such great times, sometimes great adventures on our date nights. Some of them have even been a bit dramatic at times, but we always get a good chuckle out of them later.

Our first date night as husband and wife was no different.

Saturday morning we slept in, which is a rare occasion in our house now days. My parents came to pick up Jacob and we headed to Flower Mound. I had a bridal shower to attend for my dear friend Lauren and Jay had to work for a little bit. After the shower and work...we began our date.

It was a rainy, nasty, cold day; but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We did a little shopping before heading to Roadhouse for an early dinner. Beverages, steaks, sweet potatoes....who wouldn't enjoy that?! After dinner we headed to the shops at Highland Village. We spent a lot of time here when we were dating, so it was no suprise we would end up here...married.

We had 3 hours to kill before our movie started. So Jay kindly let me drag him through Charming Charlies, a complete weakness of mine and a store he cringes when he knows I have been to just waiting to see the receipt. After an hour of pure torture we went to our favorite, spot in the shops. Barnes and Noble. And of course we sat on the floor in the Christian Inspirational section until it was time to head to the theatre. We use to always sit here and read books together. Make lists of devotionals that we wanted to do as a couple and as individuals. Read aloud pieces to each other that stood out to us, and point out books for each other to later read. Doing all of this while enjoying a cup of Joe from the in house Starbucks! Yum-o!

On to the theatre. Poor Jay. I am so glad that my husband loves a good chick flick as much as I do, or at least he puts on a great front and pretends nicely that he does. Although, I would say he was laughing just as much as I was during the funny scenes. And just to make sure he keeps his man card, I was the only one crying like a baby during the not so funny, horribly sad, hit close to home scenes. We saw The Vow. Only fitting since just 4 days before this date, we made a vow. A forever vow.

It was the perfect first date as husband and wife, perfect way to reflect on all the things we did as a dating couple and now, we still find pleasure in those same things as a married couple.
