"For We Walk By Faith, Not By Sight"....2 Corinthians 5:7

Happy Birthday, Brother Bear!

Happy 21st birthday to one of my very best friends. My baby brother.

I can't believe he is 21 already. Seems like just yesterday he was still in high school playing ball, man I miss those days. Isn't it funny how something we use to gripe about turns out to be something we really miss the most. I would give anything to see him up on that mound or out in that field again. The good ol' days.

We have a bond that I am so grateful for. We give each other a hard time every chance we get, yet we cry when the other one cries. We tried to kill each other when we were younger, yet now we are closer than you could ever imagine. And we like to compete with one another, which I think is great, because he has pushed me so hard the last year to actually follow my dreams. I am quite sure he doesn't realize this though.

He is not only my brother, he is my friend. And I love that, a lot.

He makes me proud and so very angry all at the same time. I swore when he was born he was my baby, and sometimes I still think he is. I just want nothing but the best for him and I would give my life for his, I know he would do the same for me.

I can't even began to express to you all the proud moments as his sister, but there are a few that stick out....

Watching him play baseball for many, many, many years.
Watching him graduate high school.
Him holding my hair back and standing in the bathroom to make sure that I was okay the first morning I had morning sickness during pregnancy.
How he sat at the hospital all night and into the early morning waiting on Jacob to arrive.
Watching him take the oath and giving his life up for the Army & then watching him board a greyhound bus and take off for boot camp on the very same day.
Boot camp graduation.
Medic graduation.
Watching him sling a rifle around his body and board a bus to then board a plane to head to Afghan and defend our freedom.
Afghan homecoming, there are no words to describe this feeling. I still cry thinking about it. I can't believe it's already been a year since he's been back, seems like yesterday.
Him marrying his high school sweetheart. They celebrate their year anniversary in 2 weeks!

....and so many more.

Jeffrey Dean, Brother Bear,
I love you to the moon! You make me very proud to be your sister. You are an incredible person from the inside out. I cherish our brother/sister relationship so much more than you will ever know. I am thrilled you and Jessica are moving back home soon, and I hope it's close to me. I look forward to the many more great things you will accomplish in your life! Hopefully one day you will make me an aunt, but don't rush it! Be careful. Just because you're legal doesn't mean you are invisible. If you must drink, please do so responsibly!
I love you,
Sis
